The American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) announces that the second annual Furniture Safety Week will be October 6-10, 2025.
The industry wide campaign was launched this year to raise consumer awareness of furniture-related safety issues, particularly those that impact small children.
The first national campaign, held earlier this month, involved dozens of national furniture brands, as well as retailers, home-focused shopping centers, e-commerce sites, interior designers, childproofing experts and child safety advocates, including Parents Against Tip-Overs and Kids in Danger.
“By concentrating furniture safety messages during one defined time period, we amplified our voices to inform consumers about simple steps they can take to reduce common home hazards,” reports AHFA Vice President of Communications Patricia Bowling.
Along with an extensive social media campaign, AHFA partnered with CertiPUR-US on a news video that highlighted ways Americans can prevent accidents involving clothing storage furniture, bunk beds, recliners and televisions. Throughout Furniture Safety Week, the video aired on news stations in 19 markets across the United States and reached an estimated audience of over 25 million viewers.
Both the social media posts and the video news release pointed consumers to the Alliance4Safety website created by AHFA to provide home health and safety information to consumers. The Furniture Safety Week pages on the website provided additional consumer tips and resources, as well as a toolkit for companies participating in the campaign.
“We look forward to building on the success of our first campaign and increasing participation in 2025,” Bowling says. “Together, we can improve consumer awareness of potential home hazards involving furniture and how to help prevent them.”
