Economic Uncertainty Fails to Quash Industry's Creative Spirit

Despite weeks of speculation on the potential impact of tariffs on home furnishings sales, industry executives will focus attention elsewhere this week as the twice-yearly High Point Market opens October 25. For the duration of this expansive showcase of new furnishings designed for American households, the leading topics of conversation will be style, color and interior trends rather than tariffs.

“Home furnishings are, after all, a fashion industry,” says Patricia Bowling, vice president of communications for the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA). “In all segments of the market, this industry is introducing innovative new designs to excite and satisfy today’s consumers.”

AHFA has more than 250 member companies representing all styles and price points of residential furniture. An overview of the products they are introducing at this week’s High Point Market reveals a focus on designs that ease tension, nurture wellbeing and simplify the tasks of daily living.

“Whether you come home to a one-bedroom apartment, an urban townhouse or a single-family house in a suburban neighborhood, a few well-chosen pieces of furniture can create a joy-filled space that serves as your haven,” Bowling notes.

Most introductions at this week’s High Point Market will begin appearing in stores in the spring of 2026. This summary of those new products was assembled by AHFA. (Company locations listed are High Point Market showrooms, not company headquarters. Company contacts listed are for media inquiries.)

With a generous dose of mid-century appeal, the 30-piece Brasea collection combines clean lines and sleek profiles with visually stunning materials. Part of the smaller scale Loft line, the aesthetic is minimalist but warm. A rich, organic finish on suar wood veneers creates striking cathedrals, mineral streaks and bold contrast in the grain. Suar is a fast-growing tree known in Southeast Asia as well as throughout South and Central America as the “rain tree.” Woven raffia adds texture on drawer fronts, cabinet doors and a generously scaled console. Sculptural upholstery on a smaller scale highlights the modernist perspective.  Also new is the 38-piece Geneve collection made in white oak veneers and available in two finishes, a lighter Alba and a darker Robor.
